Pinkfresh - Watercolor Spring Florals | Easy Layering Technique for Beautiful Depth

There’s something about spring florals that instantly lifts the mood. The soft pinks, fresh yellows, peaches, and touches of lavender feel like a gentle reset after winter. For today’s card, I wanted to capture that feeling using liquid watercolors and simple layering techniques to create natural depth and dimension.

One of my favorite things about liquid watercolors is that they can be reactivated with water once dry. That makes the process very forgiving — and perfect for slow layering.

I always begin with a light wash. Starting softly allows the pigment to move naturally across the paper. Water does most of the blending work — guiding the color instead of forcing it. Once the base layer is dry (or slightly damp), I gradually deepen the tones by adding more concentrated pigment near the base of the petals or in overlapping areas.

Layering slowly creates smooth transitions and realistic shadows. It’s always easier to add more color than to remove it.

For this card, I worked with Ballet Slippers, Marigold, Beach, Mulberry Blush, Raspberry Bliss, and Candy Violet — a palette that feels unmistakably spring-like.

To complement the softness of the florals, I embossed a Trellis cover plate background. Embossing adds texture without competing with the focal point, keeping the card elegant yet interesting.

White acrylic splatters added an organic finish, while black splatters near the sentiment visually tied everything together. A few iridescent dew drops completed the look with subtle sparkle and dimension.

This card is a reminder that beautiful results often come from patience — soft washes, gradual layering, and thoughtful details. Spring colors naturally invite softness and lightness, and I love how they bring a sense of renewal to handmade projects.

Foiling AND Watercoloring using the BLOCK PRINT ZODIACS COLLECTION by Spellbinders

Hello crafty friends, I am so excited to be on Spellbinders blog today with a trio of cards using the BLOCK PRINT ZODIACS Collection.  I was inspired to create with zodiacs because they celebrate personality and individuality, making each design feel personal and intentional

I love experimenting with different techniques, and zodiacs feel mysterious and ever-changing to me. That’s why I chose watercolors—no two results are ever the same. I added foil details on watercolor cardstock using my Glimmer machine to enhance that sense of magic and depth. I used the watercolors by Pinkfresh Studio.

Libra Zodiac Card – Soft Celestial Ink Blending

For this card, I wanted to capture the gentle balance and airy elegance that Libra represents. Instead of going bold and dramatic, I chose a dreamy pastel palette with soft transitions and subtle texture to echo harmony and calm.

To elevate the card without adding a lot, I layered the blended panel over a subtly textured white background panel

A soft aqua card base that ties back to the main color palette. This framing keeps the composition clean while adding depth.

The contrast between soft watercolor and bold Espresso Foiling creates instant impact.  
Limiting the palette keeps the card cohesive. The arched shape adds elegance and movement.

Although all three cards follow the same basic process, each zodiac sign was approached with its own color story to reflect personality, symbolism, and mood. This keeps the designs cohesive while allowing each card to feel intentional and unique.

For these cards, I used the Charming Clusters stamp and die set (already on sale, if you want) from the November release. The coordinating dies include two floral clusters and six sentiment words, making it a wonderfully flexible set. I also incorporated the Vintage Motifs stencil for added texture.

The first card features a soft watercolor wash paired with delicate rose-gold heat embossing on vellum, distressed gold edges, and layered die-cuts. The look is elegant, airy, and beautifully detailed.

The second card uses the floral cluster embossed in copper, with ink-blended color on the back of the vellum, a soft pink watercolor wash, and stenciled texture in the background. This combination creates a brighter, more contemporary feel.

Both designs use the same stamp set — but the techniques completely change the final look. I love how versatile this set is, and I hope these ideas inspire you to try vellum embossing, watercolor washes, and layered die-cutting in your own projects.

Altenew “For You” and “Hello” Cards – Two Looks, Same Products with few Techniques

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share a pair of floral cards today featuring Altenew’s products — and a fun twist on how one design can look completely different with just a change in technique and color palette.

Both cards use the same floral press plate and tag die, but one celebrates soft and delicate watercolor vibrance, while the other embraces elegant simplicity and clean lines. Let’s dive in!

I have listed the products below :)

 Card 1: Watercolored Tags – Bright & Playful

For this card, I used the letterpress system with the press plate onto watercolor paper. Die-cut two tags out of it. Then, I watercolored the flowers using Altenew’s Artists’ Watercolor, mixing pinks, reds and corals for a natural petal variation.

I added embossing paste through the Vintage Motifs stencil in the background.and the two tags are slightly offset for a dimensional layered look.

I finished with a sentiment from Build-A-Garden: For You, some black twine, and a few sequins for sparkle. 

Card 2: Sleek & Minimalist Tag Design

This card shows how elegant simplicity can be! I used glimmer hot foil machine to foil on the Brushed Copper cardstock.

Then, I die-cut the tag on a black card layer for contrast and added a bold white-embossed sentiment, “hello,” to tie everything together.

A few black enamel dots add just the right touch of texture and sophistication.

Final Thoughts

I love how these two cards showcase the versatility of  the same products — from soft watercolor feel to modern graphic minimalism.

Sometimes, all you need is a shift in technique, color and finish to create a whole new mood.

Pinkfresh Studio - Watercolor Rainbow Card

Hello friends! I am back on the Pinkfresh Studio blog with some fun and easy water-coloring in rainbow colors. I could make two cards using the images from one stamp set and that really is a time saver.

To start, I created the background using yellow and pink watercolors. I kept the color concentration towards the edges for an ombré effect. Once dry, I die-cut a white card using the Elongated Lattice Coverplate die. Adhere to the panel using 3d foam. 

Die-cut a vellum circle using the circle die from the Mini Slimline Essential Bundle. Stamp the images from the Peony Fantasy stamp set onto watercolor paper using watermark ink. Sprinkle opaque white embossing powder and heat set.

 To color, apply water using a brush to one image at a time, add touch of watercolor in rainbow colors. Let it dry and die-cut using the coordinating dies.

Stamp the sentiment with Detail Black ink from the Joyful Day stamp set, die-cut using the coordinating dies. Assemble the images and the sentiment using 3d foam.

Since, I had some colored images, I decided to make another card. 

Create a light background color wash using pink and blue watercolor. Die-cut the Ornate Circle from a white panel and adhere to the background panel using 3d foam.

Adhere the images and the sentiment with 3d foam and add this panel to a light yellow cardbase.

Pinkfresh Studio “Happiness” Release Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I am so excited to join Pinkfresh Studio "Happiness" release bloghop. This release has a lot of products for a variety of styles.

 

I have two cards for you featuring the Be Fearless stamps and dies, Border stencils, Decorative Frames and the sentiments from the Beautiful Branch stamps and dies.

For my first card, I created a watercolor wash using Pinkfresh new watercolors and watercolor paper (releasing soon). I then used one of the patterns from the Border stencils and sponged sage, peach fuzz, sparkling rose inks through it. 

Stamp the image from Be Fearless stamp onto watercolor paper, using Calico white ink, sprinkle white embossing powder, heat set. Color using the watercolors, let dry. Die-cut using the coordinating dies.

 Use the Decorative Frames press plate with black ink and take the impression. Die-cut using the coordinating dies. Use one of the frame and adhere to the card using foam tape. Adhere the flowers, stamped sentiment and some Blush clear drops to finish the card.

For my next card, I stamped the image using black ink. Then, I used the layering stencils and sponged peach fizz, peony, sparkling rose, ocean breeze, waterfall, paradise inks.

Using the last of the stencil for florals, I applied some glitter paste to it and let dry. Die-cut the images. I also stamped the image onto vellum, white heat emboss and die-cut.

I used black ink and sponged it through the diagonal stripes onto white card, clean the stencil and turn it to the reverse side and sponge ink again to get the pattern. 

Die-cut the arch from a peach card. Using a size smaller of the arch die, die-cut onto the Glacier glitter cardstock. Adhere all the layers to a white cardbase. Next add the images and the sentiment. To finish I added some Pixie Dust ombre glitter drops.

Pinkfresh Studio January 2024 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release

Hello everyone! I am so excited to join the Pinkfresh Studio January 2024 Stamp/ Die/ Stencil and Hot Foil Release. This release is jam packed with versatile GORGEOUS products for everyone's' liking.

This release is very special to me as it's my first release as the team member AND I have my first illustration turned into a stamp with Pinkfresh Studio. This was a dream of mine for a long time, THANK YOU Kinnari for making my dream come true. I still can't believe it :)

The stamp set is "Heart of Gold" with coordinating stencils and dies and I am going to share a few cards using various techniques.

Card 1
I used the stamp and die along with the Folk Edge rectangles die and Blush Glitter drops.

This image is perfect for easy coloring using various mediums. I chose the new (will be released soon) liquid watercolors for this card.

Card 2
I used the stamp, dies and the stencils for this card along with the new Julieta Alpha. The word "friend" is from the new Beautiful Day stamp set. I also used the Folk Art circle die, Aqua glitter paper and some Enchanted Forest ombrè glitter drops.

Card 3

For the last card, I decided to go CAS mixed media style and I want to share that we can use the stamp differently than its intended, I cut the stamp from various places and created the collage as per my liking. I used Folk Edge circles dies and Glacier glitter CS.
