"Honey, Limes & a Whole Lot of Gold"

Hello crafty friends! I'm so excited to be joining the Pinkfresh Studio “The Simple Things” Release Blog Hop today.

I've got three cards to share today: one that's pure cozy comfort, and two that are all about gorgeous, heirloom-style flourishes. Plus, stick around to the end, because I'm sharing the one little trick that made the biggest difference on these cards.

For the next two cards I used the Cottage Flourish stamp, stencil and dies along with the Leafy Loops cover plate

Card 1: Old-World Elegance

Now for something completely different. The Cottage Flourish set has this beautiful, vintage textile feel, like something you'd find embroidered on a treasured family tablecloth.

I heat embossed the flourish and borders in gold on vellum and white card. Sponged aqua ink to a white panel, then added color to the leaves and blooms using stencils. The Leafy Loops texture up top adds a delicate dotted pattern that catches the light without stealing the show. 

For the sentiment I used "Wishing you all the best", simple and classic.

Card 2: Same Stamp, Totally New Personality

This is where things get exciting. Using the same flourish, I went bold: rich teal, coral and sunny yellow, all outlined in gold. 

I cut it out and layered it over a blush embossed background, then grounded it with a strip of candy apple red. A shadowed "Congratulations" ties the colors together.

Card 3: A Hug You Can Mail

Let's start with the sweetest set in the release, Steeped in Comfort. A honey jar with a ruffled lid, juicy limes, and a honey dipper mid-drip? Yes please.

I used the Steeped in Comfort stamp, stencil and dies along with the Heirloom Nested Frames die and Oval Rhythm cover plate

I colored the jar in deep, glowing oranges so it looks like sunlight is shining right through the honey, then gave the limes a fresh, zesty green. Here's the fun twist: instead of green leaves, I went with blue. It's unexpected, it cools down all that warmth, and it makes the whole scene pop.

The background is where the magic happens. I dry embossed a panel with Oval Rhythm, then ink blended from a soft buttery yellow in the center to warm orange at the edges. 

That glow draws your eye right to the middle, where a vellum frame from Heirloom Nested Frames softens everything like a little window. "Sending a warm hug" was the only sentiment that made sense. And yes, that tiny gem on the jar's bow is my favorite detail...lol

So what's the secret? Contrast. Blue leaves in a warm orange scene. Gold lines against soft aqua. A punch of red under a pale blush panel. Every time a card felt "almost there," adding one contrasting element finished it. Try it on your next card and see what happens!

Pinkfresh Studio - Sending Christmas Cheer: A Negative Foiled Wreath Card

Hello, crafty friends! Today I'm sharing another Christmas card using Pinkfresh Studio products, that pairs soft blush pink with glowing gold, and it uses one of my favorite hot foil tricks: negative foiling. If you've ever peeled a used foil sheet off your plate and thought it looked too pretty to throw away, this technique is for you.

If you saw my last post, then you know I used a lot of foiling of my images. Hence it's a good way to use up all those foiled leftovers....lol

With regular hot foiling, the foil sticks wherever the design on your press plate is raised, so you get a foiled pattern on plain cardstock. Negative foiling flips that around. The background is covered in foil, and the design stays the color of your cardstock.

On this card, that means a shimmering gold holographic panel with crisp white stripes and little sparkling stars running through it. It gives you the look of a busy patterned background without any stamping or masking.

To frame the background, I die cut a window from pink cardstock with deckled edge die. That torn-paper look adds a handmade touch and keeps the card from feeling too formal next to all that shine. I adhered the foiled panel behind the window and mounted everything onto a white card base.

The star of the card is the watercolor greenery wreath from Seasonal Sprigs washi. The leaves have delicate gold details and tiny red berries that tie in with the warm gold background. I popped the wreath up with foam adhesive so it casts a soft shadow onto the foil.

For the sentiment, I used "Sending Christmas cheer" from Festive Flourish press plate. I foiled the words in matte gold on white cardstock, die cut them, and layered a red die cut behind the word "Christmas" and "cheer" as a shadow for extra pop. The sentiment sits across the center of the wreath, and a little extra foam tape lifts it above the leaves.

Pink and gold might not be traditional Christmas colors, but they feel so fresh together. The red berries and red sentiment shadow still say "holiday," while the blush frame keeps the card soft and modern. And the negative foiling gives you two panels from one foiling session, which I'll always count as a win.

Pinkfresh - Holiday Treasures Press plate Cards

Hello crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card with a bold, traditional color palette and lots of little festive details. I am using the beautiful Holiday Treasures press plate. This card is quite different from my earlier teal versions, even though I’m using the same collection cos there are lots of extra pieces from my crafty day...lol. 

It’s always fun to see how simply changing the background color and arrangement can completely change the feel of a design.

I have listed the supplies below and will appreciate if you shop using my links.  

I created the background in rich red using the Celestial Weave die, keeping it tone-on-tone so the texture adds interest without competing with the focal images. I love how this subtle pattern instantly gives the card a more finished and dimensional look.

For the focal point, I arranged the Holiday Treasures images across two shelves. The tiny tree, candles, gifts, houses, reindeer and other decorations are colored in cheerful pops of pink, red, turquoise, green and yellow. Against that deep red background, the lighter colors really stand out.

I placed the large holiday sentiment between the two shelves, which gives the design a nice balance while still allowing all those sweet little details to shine.

Here are the other cards I created previously. I wanted to create something festive but a little different from the traditional Christmas colors, so I went with a rich combination of deep teal, turquoise and touches of gold. I really love how elegant and modern these colors look together!

For the first card, I changed the composition completely and created a three-shelf arrangement. 

I kept this one more graphic and structured, using the tiny houses, books, gifts, trees and decorative pieces to create a different little scene on every shelf. 

The subtle gold details in the background tie everything together without taking attention away from the images.

For the second card, I arranged the images on two shelves, leaving plenty of white space in between. I added some delicate greenery using the Seasonal Sprigs Washi tape, around the shelves to soften the design and bring in a little more of that traditional holiday feel. The larger sentiment in the centre nicely connects the two parts of the card.

I love how the same collection can give such different results simply by changing the layout and the number of elements. One feels softer and more organic, while the other has a cleaner, more contemporary look.
