What's Hiding Inside This Tea Tin? 🫖✨
Hi friends! Some cards are meant to be read. This one is meant to be played with. I am using products by Pinkfresh Studio
At first glance, today's card looks like a sweet, folk-art tea tin sitting on a soft yellow background. But see that little "PULL" tab peeking out at the top? Give it a tug and things start to happen. Keep reading, because this card has not one but two surprises tucked inside, and I'll show you exactly how it all moves in my video at the end.
I have added a full supply list below and would really appreciate you buying using my affiliate link at no extra cost to you.
I colored it in a classic palette of bold blue, crisp red and fresh green, with just a hint of soft blue shading on the body so it looks like real glazed metal. A tiny pop of marigold on the little flower at the bottom ties in with the background beautifully.
A Background That Whispers
For the gatefold panels, I embossed pale yellow cardstock with Oval Rhythm. The pattern is subtle, but it catches the light so nicely and gives the whole card a cozy, textured feel without competing with the tin.
Behind the tin, I added white heat-embossed vellum sprigs that frame it like a soft halo. And then the finishing touch, a delicate vellum dragonfly from Dragonfly Dreams, landing right on the front of the tin. It's light, airy and makes the whole design feel just a little bit magical. 🦋
The Star of the Show: A Tea Tin Too Pretty to Hide
The tea tin from the Steeped in Comfort stamp set stole my heart the moment I saw it. Those trailing red blooms, leafy vines and the little arched "Simple Joys" label feel like something you'd find on your grandmother's kitchen shelf, the kind of tin you keep long after the tea is gone.
Surprise #1: Lift the Lid
Here's where the fun begins. Pull the tab and the lid of the tin slides up to reveal a hidden "Enjoy your day" label inside, softly ink blended in yellow. It's such a small moment, but it makes whoever opens the card smile every single time.

Surprise #2: Open the Gate
And it doesn't stop there! The front panels open like little doors to reveal the inside of the card, where a white heat-embossed dragonfly floats across a softly ink-blended yellow panel. There's plenty of room on the side for a handwritten note, because a card this fun deserves a heartfelt message too.
Want to See It in Action?
Photos really don't do this one justice. The best part is watching that lid lift and the gate swing open, and in my video I walk you through how I built the whole mechanism step by step, plus my coloring for the tea tin and how I got those crisp vellum details.

Once you've watched, come back and tell me in the comments: would you send this to a friend, or keep it on your own shelf? I know which one I'd pick. 💛
Happy crafting,
