Hello Everyone,
Today I welcome you to a special Diwali blog hop. Some of us Indian crafters from around the world decided to share our
love of paper crafting and create something special for the festival. Its a 2 day hop. You should have come here from the talented and sweet
Piali's blog.
Diwali is popularly known as the "
festival of lights". It is one of the most important festivals of the year for Hindus and is
celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in
their homes. I explain it to my Swiss friends as Our Christmas...lol....and they understand what it means to me and actually now a few wait every year to celebrate with us and enjoy the home made sweets and snacks.
Today is the day dedicated to cards
For my first card I used a Diya as my focal image. This is made of clay and we light it in the evening. Actually we decorate the whole outside and inside of the house with it. But here I just hand drew it, embossed and colored using some watercolors. For the background I used the stamp from my favorite company Hero Arts.
For my second card, I used the image of our God "Ganesha". Ganesha's elephant head makes him different...there is a long story behind it. Ganesha is widely known as the Remover of Obstacles
and more generally as Lord of Beginnings.
I took inspiration from the web. Hand drew him and then embossed on a hand made paper which has some gold flecks in it. The background is various Distress inks and Hero Arts background stamp.
Thanks Chaitali for organizing the hop. She also has a linky tool on her blog, if anyone would like to participate. Oh!! before I leave, there are some cut files for the Silhouette on her blog too. I could not use any because my Cameo is still in transit...lol.
I hand drew my focal images and used embossing pen with some embossing glitter (2nd. card) to emboss them. So I am submitting this card for the challenge at
WOW Embossing powder blog.
