Hi crafty friends,
I’m so happy you stopped by today! One of my favorite things to do while creating cards is mixing newer products with previously released favorites. I honestly feel this is one of the best ways to stretch our supplies, look at products differently, and create something unique without needing an entirely new collection every single time.
For today’s cards, I used many of the same products but created two completely different looks. One card has a soft, delicate, dreamy feel with vellum and layered texture, while the second card feels brighter, fresher, and a little more graphic with clean layered details. Even though both cards use similar elements, the final results feel completely different — and that’s what I love most about crafting.
I also focused on adding movement and flow to the backgrounds using stencil patterns. Sometimes subtle details like soft waves and ripples can completely change the mood of a card and make the design feel more organic and finished.
For these cards, I used the gorgeous Garden Grace washi tape with the coordinating dies, Elegant Essence stamp, die and layering stencils, Blooming Daydream sentiments, and a mix of previously released stencil designs from Tranquil Water Lilies and Fragrance Note, to create layered backgrounds full of texture, movement and dimension.
Card 1 – Soft & Delicate Vellum Elegance
For the first card, I wanted a softer and more elegant feel. I created a subtle embossed background using the ripple stencil from the Tranquil Water Lilies stencil set along with soft Ocean Breeze ink blending. The dry embossed texture adds beautiful detail without overpowering the design.
The focal point of this card is definitely the vellum perfume bottle. I heat embossed the image onto vellum using glittery gold embossing powder and then colored the image from the back side of the vellum using layering stencils and soft ink blending. This technique creates such a delicate frosted-glass look in real life and gives the bottle a very airy and elegant feel.
I paired the bottle with floral clusters from the Garden Grace washi tape. I also added a layered glitter sentiment and finished everything with an iridescent dew drop for a little sparkle.
This card has lots of texture from the dry embossing, vellum, heat embossing, layered florals, and dimensional elements, yet it still feels soft and light.
Card 2 – Fresh, Bright & Flowing
For the second card, I kept the overall design cleaner and brighter while still incorporating lots of movement through the background stenciling.
This time I used flowing wave patterns from the Fragrance Notes stencil and layered different shades of aqua and blue inks to create a soft flowing effect behind the focal image. I really enjoyed building the stencil layers gradually and experimenting with placement to create movement across the panel.
For the perfume bottle, I used the Elegant Essence layering stencils directly onto cardstock for a bolder and cleaner look compared to the vellum version from the first card. The layered inks create beautiful depth while still keeping the design soft and elegant.
Again, I used floral clusters around the bottle — some tucked behind and some layered on top — to create dimension and balance throughout the card design. I finished the card with a layered glitter sentiment and added crystal glaze to the top of the bottle lid for a glossy finishing detail.
I love how this card feels fresh, modern, and flowy while still coordinating beautifully with the first card.
I hope today’s cards inspire you to revisit older products in your stash and mix them with newer releases to create fresh combinations and unique designs.
